In this section, you will find detailed information about my ongoing research projects. My work focuses on practical solutions to complex technological challenges, particularly in the areas of data protection, international compliance, and the use of modern AI technologies.

Key Areas:

1. Implementation of GDPR Outside the EU

Developing practical and sustainable solutions for companies outside Europe to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): The GDPR poses significant challenges for companies outside the European Union that offer services in Europe. These companies must ensure that personal data is processed according to European standards. Failure to comply can result in substantial fines, loss of customer trust, and potentially restricted access to the lucrative European market. My work focuses on developing tailored solutions to help companies effectively and sustainably meet GDPR requirements. This includes detailed analyses of existing data processing procedures, identification of critical compliance gaps, and the development of pragmatic approaches. Both technological aspects and organizational measures, such as staff training, are considered to continuously raise awareness of data protection. The goal is for companies to not only meet formal requirements but also understand and practice data protection as an integral part of their corporate culture.

Designing compliance frameworks and technical architectures for the international market: Implementing GDPR outside the EU requires comprehensive compliance frameworks tailored to the specific needs and conditions of internationally active companies. These frameworks define clear responsibilities, processes, and control mechanisms to ensure personal data remains protected and GDPR-compliant at all times. The design of technical architectures forms the backbone of these compliance efforts, ensuring data protection is not just on paper but practically and reliably implemented. This includes selecting and integrating suitable technologies for data encryption, access control, and data minimization. Additionally, these architectures include systems for continuous monitoring and documentation of data processing activities, ensuring transparency and traceability. My work involves detailed planning and implementation of such architectures, including evaluating appropriate software solutions, creating comprehensive technical and organizational documentation, and conducting regular audits to verify effectiveness.

2. International Compliance

Support in implementing standards such as SOX, US-GAAP, HIPAA, and data protection laws like CCPA, along with connections to EU GDPR: International companies face the challenge of meeting a variety of regulatory requirements. These include standards like the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US-GAAP), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as well as data protection regulations like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). At the same time, companies operating in international markets must also meet the strict requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), adding further complexity. Each of these regulations brings specific requirements that significantly impact financial, technical, and organizational processes. My task is to assist companies in adhering to these regulatory requirements and clearly define and practically implement the interfaces between various international legal frameworks.

Implementing regulatory requirements is an ongoing process. I begin with detailed gap analyses to precisely identify existing gaps and potential conflicts between the requirements of SOX, HIPAA, CCPA, and GDPR. These analyses form the basis for a continuous improvement process, regularly assessing how challenges are addressed and compliance requirements are optimally met. A key focus is harmonizing various data protection laws and integrating them into comprehensive compliance programs. Specifically, GDPR requirements are continuously reviewed and updated in the context of American regulations like CCPA to ensure seamless implementation. From these ongoing analyses, practical implementation plans and guidelines emerge that not only meet regulatory requirements but can also be regularly adapted and improved. Additionally, I offer continuous training and workshops to ensure employees are always up-to-date on relevant data protection laws and possess comprehensive knowledge to successfully address current and future regulatory challenges.

Adapting European regulatory requirements (e.g., CSDDD) for North and South America: The European Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) mandates companies to adhere to comprehensive standards in human rights and environmental protection. This directive presents significant challenges, especially for companies operating internationally and managing complex global supply chains. In North and South America, this creates particular difficulties, as companies and their suppliers often operate under different legal, economic, and cultural frameworks. A central conflict arises from companies wanting to maintain established suppliers while meeting comprehensive compliance requirements to avoid legal risks and reputational damage. Suppliers, in turn, aim to preserve existing business relationships but face the challenge of adapting their processes and practices to strict European standards.

My work aims to constructively resolve this conflict and bridge the gap between European regulatory requirements and the realities of regional markets in North and South America. To this end, I analyze local conditions in detail, including relevant laws, economic dynamics, and cultural factors. This comprehensive analysis enables the development of realistic and practical adaptation strategies that meet the demands of European clients while being feasible and economically viable for local suppliers.

A key focus of my work is developing and implementing specific tools, such as whistleblower systems, designed to meet regulatory requirements. I rely on applications I have conceptualized and programmed, serving as proven best-practice examples to ensure reliable and efficient implementation. These systems enable early detection of compliance violations, minimize risks, and simultaneously increase transparency and trust in the supply chain.

Furthermore, I intensively examine the economic, legal, and social impacts of these regulatory requirements on respective regional markets. The insights gained form the basis for formulating tailored recommendations that ensure compliance, strengthen corporate responsibility, and consider local specifics. The goal of my work is to create a balance between regulatory conformity and economic efficiency, benefiting both clients and suppliers in the long term and contributing to sustainable business development.
